Dundee – USDAW

(Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers)

The main union for Shopworkers, Distribution centre’s and Allied Workers.
If you work in a shop that does not have a union then look here

Individual workers have little or no power to influence the way that employers treat us.
Only by joining together have we any hope of getting a fair deal.
This means fair wages. It also means decent working conditions and fair treatment for all.

Usdaw is one of Britain’s largest trade unions with over 365,000 members nationwide.

Usdaw members work in a variety of occupations and industries including: shopworkers, factory and warehouseworkers, drivers, call centres, clerical workers, insurance agents, milkround and dairy process, butchers and meat packers, catering, laundries, chemical processing, home shopping and pharmaceutical.

There is also a managerial and supervisory section called Sata – the Supervisory, Administrative and Technical Association. This is a special section of the union representing employees in middle and lower management or with administrative or technical responsibilities.

Usdaw membership gives you professional advice and representation on pay, working hours and safety at work, etc. There is no substitute for having Usdaw negotiate your pay and working conditions or to represent you if you have a problem at work.

Whatever trade you work in, whatever type of job you perform or whatever your personal circumstances – full-time, part-time, permanent, casual, retired, unemployed – Usdaw is always here to help you. If you have a problem and need Usdaw’s advice or representation, contact your union rep straight away. If you don’t have one at your workplace then contact your local Usdaw office or phone 0845 6060640* to be connected to your divisional office.
